Casual Wednesday
I love my nude maxi skirt! It matches almost anything and it’s subtle, unlike pure white, which can be a little too bright and loud at times. This outfit is my go to casual outfit for a comfortable day when the whether is slightly on the hotter side. I played around with a braid swept over my forehead… I think I could’ve done a better job, haha. Maybe it’s too boho for this look?

Island Vacation
I’ve been searching forever to try and find a really great flora/island print pant! I love the colors in these pants I’m wearing today =) Hope I didn’t over-accessorize this look though… my boyfriend says I look like a drug lord’s wife, haha. I think especially since I’m wearing my Gucci sunglasses. (they’re prescription!) Anyways, love the bright colors in this look although I’m not sure it fits my personality.

Thirty, Flirty, & Floral!
Today is my 30th outfit! (The title is a play off “30 Going on 30“‘s “Thirty Flirty & Thriving” quote, haha!) These pants are another steal from Goodwill! Then to even out the pattern I wore a plain collared shirt with a nice blazer to make my outfit work appropriate.Oh, and a ribbon around the collar is always a cute touch I love to do. And instead of buying them online for $15 bucks, just go to your local fabric/craft store and buy a bunch of different colored ribbon you like! Saves a ton of money and there are way more choices in patterns and colors! =)
Oh, and my shoes deserve to have a new paragraph, haha! I love these Messeca wedges with a fake gold heel! Really classy, although if any of you plan on getting them I would suggest you size a one to one and a half sizes down, they run so big! Still trying to figure that out…
I actually wore this outfit two days ago to a Dodger’s Baseball game! I’m not too much of a baseball fan but I’m a fan of my boyfriend so I was happy to attend with him! =) Last night we attended another event for this AMAZING podcast called Radiolab! If you guys haven’t heard of it, check it out, it’s free to subscribe on iTunes!

Made in the U.S.A.
I’m all decked out in American Apparel today. It’s funny because my closet is overcome with it since I donated a bunch of my clothes before I moved last Fall and then bought a bunch of AA…so you may realize I own a lot of it, haha! Lately I’ve been feeling more self-conscious about where my clothes are made. I’ve been realizing that even big ‘fancy’ brands all have their clothes and accessories made in China, Bangladesh, etc.
We all have tons of things made in China and most of the time we don’t even think about it. We forget that there are sweatshops and horrible working conditions. There have been news stories of H&M workers fainting and who remembers the documentary that exposed Wal-Mart’s horrible business Chinese factories a few years ago? Made me disgusted with the company! And yet we still consume it. Sometimes it’s hard to buy things NOT made in China and I’m definitely guilty of owning many clothes that were probably made by sweatshops, but I hope for a better future with our industry.
I believe that American Apparel is doing amazing things for our economy (creating fair-wage jobs that are sweatshop free!) so I feel compelled lately to buy things from them. I feel like they are often time judged by their “shocking” marketing campaign that objectify women, and yet I ask you this… don’t all ads and magazine covers do just the same? There’s no denying I’ve seen some racy stuff and breasts in ads and modeling photos many times before. But if the lighting is “commercial” then all of a sudden it’s okay? Sorry for the rant. I’m not saying that I may entirely agree with ANY clothing company’s marketing campaign but if I were to choose of one of the lesser evils, I would say American Apparel is doing more good than other companies. ^__^
WITH THAT SAID, I’m really into the sort of ‘preppy’ look that American Apparel has. (Also, is it me or did it seem like they started the trend of chiffon and maxi skirts?) Also, did you notice… I’m wearing new glasses! Yet, my old black glasses that I’ve had for 6 years have retired! Probably not permanently since I feel like those are a bit less imposing on my face, but alas, I’m excited for a change! I got them at a vintage glasses place in my neighborhood!

Catching Daylight
Blogging is already so engrained in my head that all I worry about after work is trying to rush home so I can catch daylight for my blog photos! Haha. Tonight I headed home a bit later though because my boyfriend and I went out to dinner =) So, sorry about the dingy, dark background.
I love this spaghetti-strapped floral tank top from American Apparel. It’s one of their few prints and I think the color combo is perfect. I wish mint colored flowers really existed! The purse was a recent gift from my Aunt Jennifer. She’s so awesome! I’m not really a purse fanatic so I know nothing about it but I appreciated the gift nonetheless! It’s the fanciest purse I own! Haha.
